This checklist helps you quickly assess whether your team is stuck in a comfort zone or actively growing.
For each item, answer with Yes or No. For best results ask all team members to rate it.
Comfort Zone Assessment Checklist
The more 'Yes' or high ratings you have, the more likely your team is staying too comfortable.
  1. Team members rarely suggest new ideas
  1. Deadlines are always met, but growth or innovation is low
  1. People mostly stick to tasks they already know
  1. There's low energy or excitement during meetings
  1. Challenges are often avoided or minimized
  1. Roles and responsibilities never change
  1. Feedback is rare or always positive (no pushback or critical thinking)
  1. Mistakes are seen as failures rather than learning opportunities
  1. Team avoids conflict or difficult conversations
  1. No one has taken a risk in the last 2–3 months
  1. Learning or development goals are unclear or missing
  1. The team says "this is how we've always done it" often
  1. There's no clear vision or challenge beyond day-to-day tasks
  1. People don't ask for help or offer support outside their scope
  1. Team members rarely take on tasks that require learning new skills or stepping outside their usual role
Interpreting Your Results
⚠️ Comfort Zone Alert
If most answers are Yes Your team is likely stuck in a comfort zone.
🟡 Learning Zone
If your answers are roughly balanced between Yes and No, your team is starting to move out of the comfort zone. Learning and adjustment are happening in some areas, but overall growth is still uneven.
Growth Mindset
If most answers are No or Your team is actively stepping out of their comfort zone.
This is not scientific assessment but quick test that is good for self-assessment and conversation starter for teams.
